Rostov NPP Successfully Undergone Integrated Security Status Check
OREANDA-NEWS. September 10, 2010. Rostov NPP has successfully undergone the integrated security status check. According to its results the certificate of compliance of nuclear plant security status to the requirements of regulatory documents was signed.
Such integrated checks are held at Russian nuclear power plants in accordance with the schedule in order to monitor the implementation by nuclear power plants of the requirements of regulatory documents,which exist in the field of the nuclear power use.
The committee, which performed the inspection, consisted of representatives of Rosatom State Corporation, Rosenergoatom Concern OJSC, specialists of Smolensk, Kalinin and Novovoronezh NPPs.
During the week, security assurance experts checked the plant operation in terms of nuclear, radiation, technical, fire, environmental safety and safety in radioactive waste handling as well as personnel development management, prevention of plant operation failures and labor protection.
The audit detected good utility practices in terms of the security assurance process:
– Rostov NPP experience in the application of the algolization method for prevention of the development of blue-green algae in the heat sink;
– additional training tests on dynamic testing programs performed prior to every test of power unit No.2. The tests are implemented at the full-scale simulator of the training centre and are accompanied with filling in of corresponding records;
– personnel psychological preparation is a compulsory part of the program of operational NPP personnel proficiency maintaining and training for the position. It involves issues of teamwork, stress management, effective communication skills and training of qualities that are important for the profession;
– a program of psychological follow-up of emergency response drills of the operating personnel, performed at the full-scale simulator, has been developed and implemented. In accordance with the results of the psychological follow-up of emergency response drills a report is prepared, which includes comparative analysis of observational data and data obtained from psychological and psychophysiological examination of participants of the emergency response drills, as well as psychological and pedagogical recommendations for the training centre instructors, regarding individual approach to the personnel training and educational process improvement.
