Visa Launches MOL NNSS im Moldova
OREANDA-NEWS. September 10, 2010. As it was reported at press conference by VISA General Manager for South East Europe and CIS Jean-Mark Tonti, VISA following its own criteria of assessment has chosen one of 15 Moldavian banks and determined that most of all the role of calculating agent fits to Banca de Economii. He also noted that the effective processing solution – NNSS would favor opening of new opportunities for the clearing market.
According to him, the VISA experience in other countries shows that implementation of NNSS favors the expansion of VISA card accepting networks and is an importance impetus for the banks in development of cashless payments. Implementing of interbank accounts system in leis on Moldova’s territory is stimulating for increase of number of bank’s client accounts in national currency, what in its turn favors the growth of cashless payments volume in Moldavian leis, strengthening of liquidity of banking system and Moldavian lei rate.
According to VISA Manager for Armenia, Georgia and Moldova for business development Irina Kamkhadze, the clearing payments in national currency allow the banks to reduce the operational expenditures. Earlier the payments were made through one of foreign banks, the amounts of payments were converted from leis to US dollars and back, and the banks bore the certain currency risks.
The implementation of the system doesn’t require from the banks any expenses for its creation. According to Deputy President of Banca de Economii Victor Domenti, the implementation of interbank accounts in leis is an impetus for development of cashless payments in the country, that will favor the formation of transparent economy, increase of the liquidity of the banks and the retail commodity turnover, and development of trade-retail networks all over the country.
The NNSS system is based on VisaNet – the global processing Visa system, able to process more than 10 thousand transactions per 1 second and joining more than 16 thousand financial institutions in 200 countries. The MOL NNSS system, adapted to Moldova’s banking market needs, is supported by Visa and guarantees the banks the same advantages that they get in processing of international transactions: technical support, risk management, assistance in solving of dispute situations.
