OREANDA-NEWS. September 09, 2010. As part of the 6th Baikal International Economic Forum, State Corporation ‘Bank for Development and Foreign Economic Affairs (Vnesheconombank)’ and the Government of the Irkutsk region entered into an Agreement on Cooperation.

On behalf of Vnesheconombank the Agreement was signed by Vnesheconombank Chairman Vladimir Dmitriev, on behalf of the Irkutsk region - by Governor and Chairman of the Government Dmitry Mezentsev.

The Agreement aims to establish strategic partnership and promote long-term and effective cooperation between the parties in the investment activity.

The parties intend to cooperate in raising funds to finance investment projects scheduled to be implemented on the territory of the region. A list of projects is to be determined on the basis of the Concept for Socio-Economic Development of the Irkutsk Region for a Period of up to 2020.

The p[arties plan to place special emphasis on projects in processing natural resources, chemistry and petrochemestry, power engineering, infrastructure as well as on helping to raise funds to finance small and medium-sized enterprises.

This project’s implementation would help to address the region’s top-priority socio-economic development objectives and boost its industrial potential.
