PM of Ukraine Denied Allegations about Tax Code
OREANDA-NEWS. September 09, 2010. Opening the Cabinet session the Prime Minister of Ukraine Mykola Azarov refuted a number of insinuations on reforms. "Right now I have to apply to citizens of Ukraine and refute a number of insinuations on the Tax Code" - the Prime Minister said.
Mykola Azarov reassured the citizens of Ukraine, that the new property tax does not apply to 90% of Ukrainian, because area to 100 square meters in urban areas and 200 square meters in the village are not subject to this tax, even if in this premises only one person lives. The Head of Government also noted that housing is not taxed at the rate of 40 square meters per person: that means, if the family has two people - a norm of non taxation is 100 and 200 square meters, if three - 120 square meters, if the four - 160, etc.
The Prime Minister noted that individual income tax rate increase to 17% on in excess of 10 times the minimum wage will not touch 90% of citizens: "The vast majority of citizens will pay 15% of this tax as they were doing that."
Moreover, Mykola Azarov noted that the tax on income on deposits is on those, which are more than 200 thousand UAH. "This will touch those who have deposits millions of hryvnia. It is clear that 200 thousands plus a conditional 1 hryvnia are easily divided into two deposits in order to avoid taxation. We do not deny – please do that. However, when it comes to 20 million, 30 million, 100 million - it is difficult to divide, it will be taxed. That means, we tax the rich" - the Head of the Government stressed.
Mykola Azarov noted that the new tax system would operate on the principle: reducing the total load and at the same time strengthening the responsibility of wealthy citizens. "Greater payment is laid on the rich, those who can safely share with the community."
"I am convinced that the first year of the tax reform, the taxpayers will appreciate the ease and simplicity of the tax system" - the Prime Minister said.
