Azeri Oil Transportation via BTC Fells by 5.9%
OREANDA-NEWS. September 08, 2010. The State Oil Company of Azerbaijan Republic (SOCAR) has renewed statistical data on Azerbaijani oil export via the major pipeline Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan (BTC) named after Heydar Aliyev.
This August, oil transportation via BTC dropped by 5.9%.
SOCAR informs that it was carried 3.2 million tons of Azeri oil via BTC to Turkey’s Ceyhan port in August against 3.4 tons in July, 3.07 million tons in June, 3.5 million tons in May (this year’s still best index), 3.1 million tons in April, 3.08 million tons in March, 2.678 million in February, 3.04 million tons in January 2010 and 2.8 million tons in December 2009.
“For Jan-August 2010 oil pumping via BTC totaled 24.8 million tons,” it was informed.
In 2009, transportation totaled 36.2 million tons and the last year’s highest figures were registered in May and June (by 3.3 million tons). In May 2010, this index was broken.
From the very start of the BTC operation in mid-2006 till 1st September 2010 the pipeline delivered 131.4 million tons to Ceyhan.
For comparison: this August shipping from Ceyhan port made up 3.1 million tons and over 8 months of 2010 – 24.9 million tons. From the very start of BTC operation till 1st September 2010 export from Ceyhan totaled 129.5 million tons.
