Moldova Increases Number of Fruit & Vegetables Suppliers to Russia
OREANDA-NEWS. September 08, 2010. Moldova proposed to Rosselkhoznadzor to increase the number of fruit and vegetables suppliers to Russia from 33 up to 140 companies. The new list was prepared by the specially created working group, consisting of representatives of the Ministry of Agriculture and members of the Association of Producers and Exporters of Plant Products, after the thorough analysis of the all enterprises, exported fruit and vegetables to Russia.
According to the Ministry, all companies from the new list correspond to requirements of Rosselkhoznadzor and have never had any warnings from Russia on quality of delivered products. They provided all necessary quality certificates and documents, confirming the safety of the delivered fruit and vegetables on the level of nitrates.
The Ministry of Agriculture counts that in the near future Rosselkhoznadzor will consider the new list of Moldavian greengrocery suppliers and approve it in full. Earlier it was informed that Rosselkhoznadzor was ready to revise the list of Moldavian companies, having the right to export the plant products to Russia. Before, Rosselkhoznadzor reduced the list from 136 up to 33 companies, motivating it by the fact that many products that didn’t correspond to safety standards came from Moldova: most often number of pesticides in the apples exceeded.
Valeriu Cosarciuc told the absolute majority of Moldavian companies, delivering fruit and vegetables to Russia, didn’t break the terms of delivery, stipulated by special memorandum, signed in 2008. According to this document, Rosselkhoznadzor may start to exclude Moldavian companies from the list of suppliers of plant products to Russia, after notifying Moldavian authorities, if during 180 days the declined companies violate the products safety requirements not less than three times.
The head of the Ministry of Agriculture of Moldova told Moldavian suppliers didn’t make such repeated violations.
