RTS Released Stock Market August Trading Results

The RTS Standard Index, the blue chips index, fell by 2.94% to reach 9,364.41 points (9,648.34 points as of July 30, 2010). The "second-tier" stock index – RTS-2 Index went up by 1.53% to reach 1,746.41 points (1,720.02 points as of July 30, 2010). Key economy sectors represented on the Russian stock market showed a negative trend. The largest decrease was demonstrated by the oil and gas sector, with the RTS Oil & Gas Index falling by 5.45%. A significant decrease was reported by the financial sector with the RTS Finances Index going down by 3.59%. The biggest growth was experienced by the telecommunications sector: the RTS Telecom Index gained 3.71%.
RTS Siberia Index gained 1.67%.
In July the US dollar rose by 1.46% against the Russian ruble to reach 30.66 rubles per US dollar (30.22 rubles as of July 30, 2010).

In August 2010 the securities trading volume on RTS equaled USD53,44 billion (11,620.47 billion rubles*), including all types of trades. The trading volume on RTS Standard totaled USD8,378.92 million.
The top sellers of the month on the RTS Stock Market were Sberbank ordinary shares (SBER) with a turnover of USD 4,035.6 million followed by Gazprom ordinary shares (GAZP) with a turnover of USD 1,805.1 million and ОАО "LUKOIL" ordinary shares (LKOH) with a turnover of USD648.7 million. The share of the above securities in the turnover made up 47.51%, 21.25% and 7.64%.respectively.
The top gainers of the month were ordinary shares of IDGC of Centre, JSC (MRKC) that experienced a growth of 37.14% to reach USD 0.048, ordinary shares of OJSC "Volga TGC", (TGKG) that went up by 24.13% to reach USD 0.0782 and ordinary shares of JSC Irkutskenergo (IRGZ) that gained 21.95% to end up at USD 0.7 per share.
The top losers of the month were ordinary shares of IDGC of North-West (MRKZ) that lost 22.33% to reach USD 0.0069, ordinary shares of ОАО "PROTEK" (PRTK) that went down by 11.54% to reach USD 3.45 and ordinary shares of ОАО "LUKOIL" (LKOH) that decreased by 10.07% to USD 52.7.
