OREANDA-NEWS. September 03, 2010. The Government will initiate the introduction of a five-year plan of quality education, launching in 2011. Prime Minister of Ukraine Mykola Azarov said this while opening a session of the Government.

"We are realists, but we must set ambitious goals", emphasized Mykola Azarov. Thus, according to the Prime Minister, for example, from the next year construction of new schools in the villages and reconstruction of the old ones can be planned solely as the development of educational complexes, which will have logistical possibilities for comprehensive development of the personality of XXI century". The Head of the Government has noted that such educational facilities should include three components: education, cultural education, physical training. "And that needs not to be planed for a year, but to make the first "five years of quality education" in independent Ukraine", emphasised Mykola Azarov, adding that it is also necessary to build housing for teachers and social infrastructure in the complex.

In addition, the Prime Minister has said that we have thoroughly repaired about 2 thousand schools, 23 new schools are put into operation for the new school year. However, the Head of the Government has noted the unsatisfactory preparation of schools in some regions for the heating season: not completed repairs, boilers are not ready, right amount of fuel is not stored.

"I ask Vice-Prime Minister Viktor Tykhonov, Minister of Education Dmytro Tabachnyk to investigate, to draw conclusions and to report an action plan: how in whole in all educational institutions we can complete preparations for winter, not later than October 1", emphasised Mykola Azarov.
