OREANDA-NEWS. September 2, 2010. In early 2011, Internet backbone of Azerbaijan the  Delta Telecom company intends to  increase again capacity of channels of outgoing traffic in the  direction of European  countries.

Technical director of the Delta Telecom Rahid Alakparli informed  today the company has increased capacity of the channels in this  direction from  3 Gigabits per second to  36-40 Gigabits per second.

"From total volume  of capacity of the channels only 8-10 Gigabits per second were distributed to end users, for the time being, other part remains unequipped as secondary providers have no technical possibilities for application of additional capacities,” R. Alakparli said.

According to him the local  Internet providers have concentrated all power exactly in the capital whereas, as a whole,  there is  huge potential of undeveloped territories by the Internet providers throughout the republic.

30 Internet providers function in Azerbaijan. In accordance with experts’ calculations  on the average, approximately 5,000 users of the Internet fall on each provider, if to take into consideration that level of penetration of the Internet in the country makes 41%.
