OREANDA-NEWS. September 2, 2010. Yuri Kancher, acting First Assistant to the Prime Minister of the Government of the Republic of Karelia held a session of the working group on assistance in mobilization of investment in the republic.

The working group includes members of the government on whose work the investment climate in Karelia depends first of all. The commission's task is to render assistance in implementation of important projects leading to creation of new workplaces and production development in territory of the republic.

This session of the commission was devoted to investment projects implemented in territory of Petrozavodsk. One of the most interesting and important projects is called The Berry of Karelia and assumes creation of enterprise for deep processing of wood berries.

The Yagoda Karelii (Berry of Karelia), Ltd. is a factory unique for Russia, as today three quarters of goods made of wood berries widely used in dairy and confectionery industry is imported to our country from abroad. The factory will be the largest in territory of Russia, its volume is 44 tons of products of deep processing a day. The main thing is that Petrozavodsk will have 100 new workplaces, and the highly profitable enterprise will pay good taxes to the local budget.

The investment project is included in the list of priority projects of the Ministry of Agriculture of Russia. Total sum of investments makes 561 million roubles. Alongside with the enterprise's own means Karelian regional branch of Rosselkhozbank has established a line of credit for 421 million roubles. Today performance of works at the construction site averages 80%, expensive imported equipment is delivered to the enterprise, workers are hired.

However, during implementation of the investment project some unforeseen difficulties have occured regarding raising of credit. Rosselkhozbank has changed parameters of appraisal of property of the factory under construction, therefore, construction and equipment delivery are late due to lack of credit resources.

Yuri Kancher has promised to renderv all possible organizational support from the government of Karelia to the important industrial project. According to the director general of the Berry of Karelia company Eduard Krul, with assistance of at republican and federal level construction of the factory may be completed by the end of the year.

Besides the Berry of Karelia factory in Petrozavodsk, there are some other large investment projects under implementation about which mayor of the city Nikolay Levin has told at the session of the working group. These are construction of Kalevala Wood-Working Complex first in Russia factory producing oriented strand boards (OSB) of wood waste, large modernization of capacities of Petrozavodskmash, construction of Onego Palace hotel and some other.

Budgetary projects should be added to commercial constructions. This year in Petrozavodsk there has been allocated more than 160 million roubles to repair roads at the expense of the city and republican budgets, in 17 streets asphalt was replaced completely. Besides, within the scope of implementation of the New Roads of the United Russia's Towns federal project to repair streets of Petrozavodsk additionally it has been allocated 264 million roubles from the budget of Russia.
