OREANDA-NEWS. September 02, 2010. Economically active population of Moldova (employed and unemployed) in II quarter of 2010 made up 1 million 349,6 thousand persons, reducing by 0,6% (8,5 thousand) as compared to the same period of 2009. According to the National Bureau of Statistics, the reduction was due to decrease of number of employed population (by 20,1 thousand people) in non-agricultural sector. In the structure of active population the share of employed people reduced from 93,9% up to 93%, and the share of unemployed increased from 6,1% up to 7%.

The economically active men-women ratio was practically equal: 51,7% - men, and 48,3% - women. The share of active rural population exceeded the share of active urban population – 54,6% and 45,4%, respectively. In agrarian sector 412,3 thousand people (32,8% of all employed) were working. As compared to the same period of 2009 this index didn’t change. The number of employed in non-agricultural activity made up near 843 thousand people, reducing by 20 thousand (2,3%) as compared to II quarter of 2009.

The share of persons, working in industry made up 11,7% (12% in 2009), in construction – 5,9% (5,7% in 2009). The number of workers in industry reduced by 4,3%, in construction - increased by 3,1% as compared to the level of 2009. In the field of services 49,5% of total employed were working, however, this share reduced by 2,5 pp as compared to the same period of 2009. 68,6% of population were working at private ownership enterprises, 25,6% - at public ownership enterprises, 5,8% - at mixed ownership enterprises (public and private) and with foreign capital.

In non-formal sector 13,8% of employed persons were working, and 33,9% had one non-formal working place. The number of persons, declared as left for work abroad made up near 311,6 thousand people. Out of them 61,6% - men.
