OREANDA-NEWS. September 1, 2010. The Port of Yuzhny (Ukraine) began loading bulk cargo simultaneously onto five ships of total deadweight of 500,000 tons, the Port Authority press release said. The largest vessel Kassos Warrior is of 194,000dwt.

The ships docked at berths number 5, 6, 7, 8, 9 at the second cargo area of the port, where facilities for handling coal and ore are located. The stevedores will load cargoes ranging from 70,000 to 137,000 tons, largely iron ore concentrate, coal and pellets.

"The attraction of new freight flows and large-capacity vessels to Yuzhny port is one of the main tasks the Ministry of Transport and Communications had set” Alexander Lagosha, acting Harbormaster said, commenting on the event. “Given the high potential of the company and the professionalism of the personnel, such port facilities operation should be constant and common. And we are going to work on that."
