OREANDA-NEWS. September 1, 2010. M2M Telematica announced the start of wide-range project Social GLONASS which is aimed at installing GLONASS on transport vehicles of social companies in the regions of Russia.

The first conference devoted to the project took place in the city of Veliky Novgorod on August 30.

The attendees discussed first steps of the program running currently in Valdai district, Novgorod region. GLONASS sensors are installed on the vehicles of 5 social companies in the district, providing the opportunity for the dispatchers to trace transport routes. A central dispatcher site is available in the Social Protection Committee of the region.

M2M demonstrated operations of the GLONASS’ed transport to the attendees of the conference in real time with the help of its special SW. The spectators could see the data about bus speeding, fuel consumption, route, distance, etc.

Valdai district was selected for the pilot project due to high concentration of social companies (asylums, boarding schools, nursing homes, etc). GLONASS is to control transport usage effectiveness. 

Social GLONASS is oriented at improvement of the social life in Russia through additional safety and enhanced life quality for the most unprotected groups of citizens.
