OREANDA-NEWS. September 1, 2010. Presentation of AN-158 regional jet of a new generation, which embodied the best innovative aviation technologies, became a highlight of “Airspace Technologies, Modern Materials and Equipment” the 5th International specialized exhibition taking place in Kazan (Republic of Tatarstan). As D.Kiva, President - General Designer of ANTONOV Company, noted “It is the second demonstration of AN-158 abroad. Its international debut in Farnborough was quite successful. We concluded the contract on delivery of 10 such aircraft to be operated by a Russian airline. Characteristics of the aircraft allow operating it effectively under conditions of Russian Federation and Republic of Tatarstan in particular. Therefore we are very glad to represent AN-158 and other ANTONOV programmes here”. Making a speech at the plenary meeting of the exhibition, D.Kiva told in details about advantageous technologies used in design of ANTONOV aircraft.

On the 10th of August, Governmental delegation of Republic of Tatarstan headed by Prime Minister I.Khalikov, representatives of aviation industry, airlines, institutes of the country came to Kazan airport to familiarize with AN-158 and exposition of ANTONOV. Guests surveyed the aircraft and familiarized with the process of the programmes of AN-70 military-transport STOL aircraft, AN-140 passenger turbofan, further development of AN-148/-158 regional jets family.

Sharing his impressions, Mr. Khalikov said: “ANTONOV” belongs to that little number of enterprises, which not only maintained the full technological cycle of the aircraft design but can develop really competitive production at the world level. I shall recommend the airlines to study AN-158”.
