Ukraine Has no Shortage of Buckwheat
OREANDA-NEWS. September 01, 2010. Question of the buckwheat deficit in the State has promoted the artificial boom. This the Minister of Agrarian Policy Nikolai Prisyazhnyuk announced during the briefing at the government house.
"Today the country is forecasted to provide buckwheat at 100%" - the Minister stressed.
In addition, Mykola Prisyazhnyuk noted that due to climatic conditions in Ukraine, as in the whole world grain output will be reduced. Today the country predictably collect 40.5 million tons, what is 6 million tons less.
"But these 40.5 million tons fully enable us to provide food security for all segments of grain, to remain on the outer grain market" - the Minister emphasized.
According to the official, there is enough grain in Ukraine to provide assistance to countries that need it. So, today the Government of Georgia appealed to the Prime Minister of Ukraine Mykola Azarov to purchase 120 tons of food wheat.
Mykola Prisyazhnyuk noted that Ukraine is provided with melon and vegetables, but the main problem occurs with internal logistics.
"Today, the internal logistics is almost absent and vegetables, fruits and melons which are grown, for example, in the south of the Kherson region, is not actively promoted to the markets in other regions, as we would like and as the consumer demands" - the Minister stressed.
In addition, Mykola Prisyazhnyuk noted that it is necessary to change the structure of harvesting, storing, and country provision with vegetables, fruits and other agricultural products.
"Together with the Ministry of Economy we will work hard to calculate the predicted uptake of all segments of agricultural products for our consumers" - the Minister stressed.
Also Mykola Prisyazhnyuk said that in September-October this year fairs will be held which will allow the urban consumers to communicate with agricultural manufacturer for further cooperation.
