OREANDA-NEWS. September 01, 2010. Latvia's exports of wood and wood products in the first six months of 2010 totaled LVL 434.217 million (USD782 million), according to the Agriculture Ministry's data. This is 43.1% more than in the same period last year, the Baltic Course reported.

Wood and articles of wood comprise the largest portion of Latvia's wood exports, LVL 381 million (USD 686 million) – an increase of 49.1% from the first half of 2009. Sawn timber exports totaled LVL 125.1 million (USD 225 million), round timber – LVL 62.31 million (USD 112 million), and plywood – LVL 39 million (USD 70 million).

On the other hand, the volume of wood furniture exports dropped 5%, to LVL 25.468 million (USD46 million) in the first six months this year.

The bulk of Latvia's wood exports, 16.8%, went to Sweden, 11.7% to Germany and 11.3% to Great Britain.
