OREANDA-NEWS. August 31, 2010. Numbers of car leasing transactions executed by DnB NORD Lizings in June 2010 appears twofold as compared to the respective month of 2009, reported the press-centre of DnB NORD.

"We have sensed improvements in the overall market situation. The results achieved over the course of the last year signify that people once again are feeling optimistic, being confident that the major hardship has been overcome.    Besides, current income allows many customers to make purchases that obviously are not confined to the goods of prime necessity," explains the Chairwoman of DnB NORD Lizings Board of Directors Ruta Amtmane.

The achievements of DnB NORD Lizings imply more positive trend than the industry's average, and the Chairwoman of DnB NORD Lizings Board of Directors is positively convinced that the car leasing segment has reached the nadir of its performance and now is apparently recovering.

The situation within the industry is characterized by the data collected by Latvian Authorized Car-Dealers' Association (LPAA). According to them, in June 2010 in Latvia have been registered 556 new cars, which is by 17% less than in June 2009, yet by 212 cars more than in May 2010 when the number of new cars tallied up to mere 344. In July, however, the figures are less impressive again, yet the drop has been relatively slight - by 15 cars.

As to the most popular car brands, according to LPAA one can see that equally in demand are economy cars and all-terrain vehicles. Among economy cars the most popular is "Volkswagen Polo" – by June 2010 in Latvia by the means of leasing have been bought 69 cars of this brand in total. In turn, among all-terrain vehicles the top position holds "Toyota Land Cruiser" – over the first six months of the year there have been 65 such purchases.

The average customer of DnB NORD Lizings is an employed person whose income typically is a bit over the mean indicator. The absolute majority represent families with one or several children. The leasehold car in most cases is used for the private needs of the customers and their respective families, and usually the family has a single vehicle at its disposal. With the help of the lease funding the family vehicle is either purchased for the first time or replaced by a better and more suitable model.
