OREANDA-NEWS. August 30, 2010. Increase of investment in Southern region of Moldova is one of priority tasks of the Government – Valeriu Lazar. This was announced by Deputy Premier, Minister of Economy of Moldova in the course of his visit to Giurgiulesti International Free Port (GIFP) and the Free Enterprise Zone Valcanes.

The purpose of the visit to the GIFP was in joint meeting with all interested sides, participating in implementation of this strategic project. Deputy Minister of Transport and Road Infrastructure Boris Gherasim, administration of GIFP headed by General Director of ICS Danube Logistics Thomas Moser, representatives of the Ministry of Economy, SE Railway of Moldova, the Customs Bureau of Cahul took part in the discussion.

In the course of the meeting the parties have discussed the actual problems regarding the activity of GIFP in order to work out the general solutions, stimulating a speedy development of multifunctional port and industrial-logistic park. Valeriu Lazar suggested holding regular meetings in the future with all interested sides in order to find the solutions for existing problems promptly. According to him, the increase of investment attractiveness of the port is very important as the object is a strategic point of national investments and the increase of its attractiveness is one of the strategic purposes of the Government, including the considerable growth of working places as well.

In the course of the meeting they have also discussed such problems as: absence of systematic information on employment in the region, being one of the main requirements of potential investors, on unsatisfactory road condition, problems with land parcel, some issues of collaboration with customs authorities. Thomas Moser, managing the project, emphasized current administration of the port undertook the task to put into service the Cargo Terminal in I quarter of 2011, including the Container Terminal.

In the course of the meeting the parties determined a range of tasks and possible solutions, among which are: joint creation in the GIFP and public structures of the database to monitor the condition in the field of labor, subsequent holding of theme meetings with persons, responsible for infrastructure of roads, transport and activity of Customs Service.
