Retail Sales Increased by 7,9% in Moldova
OREANDA-NEWS. August 26, 2010. Retail sales of consumer products in January-July 2010 amounted to 13 billion 344 million leis, increasing by 7,9% as compared to the same period of 2009. As it was informed in the National Bureau of Statistics, the growth of retail sales was due to increase of nonfoods sales by 10,1% - up to 8 billion 947,4 million leis and sales of foodstuffs – by 2,9% - up to 4 billion 396,6 million leis.
The growth of retail trade volume was registered at the joined ownership enterprises (with foreign capital) (+11,9%), at private companies (+7,1%) and at public ownership enterprises (+0,1%). At the same time, the sales at the mixed (public and private) trading companies have reduced by 11,9%.
The largest share in the total volume of retail sales fell to Chisinau – 58,6% and Balti - 7,7%, followed by Gagauzia - 2,9%, Cahul region – 2,1%, Orhei region – 1,9%, Edinet, Ungheni and Soroca regions – 1,7% each, and Drochia region – 1,6%.
In July 2010 the trading companies have sold goods totaling to 2 billion 198,3 million leis or by 10,4% more than in June 2010 and by 8,9% more than in July 2009.
