OREANDA-NEWS. August 25, 2010. Syrian Arab Airlines (Syrianair), Syria's [national] flag carrier, has inaugurated direct air services between Allepo, Syria and Vnukovo International, Moscow. The flights will be operated once a week, on Mondays, using the Boeing-737 aircraft as standard equipment on the route. The aircraft will feature passenger cabins in a two-class configuration (business and coach).

The flights will depart Aleppo at 12:40 local time, arriving in Vnukovo at 17:05 local time in Moscow. The return service will depart Vnukovo at 18:05 local time in Moscow, landing back in Aleppo at 20:50 local time.

Syrian Arab Airlines did in fact start operations on the route somewhat earlier, on June 14, with the return leg to Moscow operated in the meantime from the Nation's Capital, Damascus.

The air service between Aleppo and Vnukovo is now a direct operation, with the Syrian destination being an all-new welcome addition not only to the Airport's route network and those of the other Moscow airports, but on the Federal scale as well: scheduled flights to Syria's second-largest city are currently available only out of Vnukovo International.

The inauguration of the new air service coincided with the festivities on the occasion of the Moscow-Allepo Public Foundation's fifth anniversary. The Foundation aims to promote economic and cultural exchange between Moscow and this major metropolis in Syria which is also one of the world's most ancient population centers. Among the key points on this exchange agenda is tourism, including that aimed specifically at mutually enriching cultural exchange and appreciation.

Vnukovo International's top management have the pleasure of congratulating the Moscow-Allepo Foundation on their Anniversary and would like to wish them every success in the cause of strengthening economic and cultural ties between Syria and Russia.
