OREANDA-NEWS. August 24, 2010. The presentation for the new vehicle was held on a ferry which travelled along the Moskva River from Krasnokholmskaya Naberezhnaya to the Expocentre landing. At the press conference Anton Karpov, the director of sales, talked about the vehicle and its positioning.

UAZ Patriot Sport was created for active, young people, interested in purchasing a compact and affordable off-roader. Being small and possessing great manoeuvrability the car is ideal for transport within the city as well as off road. The compactness of the UAZ Patriot increases the dynamism of its appearance, which is highlighted with a small spoiler.

The new off-roader was developed on the UAZ Patriot platform. In comparison with its older brother the new modifications have made it 360 mm shorter, and the volume inside the vehicle has been reduced to 700 l. Despite the fact that the vehicle has become smaller, it still retains the five doors. The main changes in terms of length have been made by reducing the size of the boot and the aperture of the rear doors. Nonetheless, the volume of the boot is still 600 l. Which is greater than the specifications for similar models, and the tonnage of the vehicle remains unchanged and comprises 600 kg, also the largest specification for its class.

Due to the changes in size, the UAZ Patriot Sport has become easier to handle, possessing the best characteristics for approaching and departing angles and also its ramp breakover radius. The solid frame construction of the vehicle and the solid axles which come from the older brother, the UAZ Patriot, mean that the car can be used on any road conditions. The reduced turning circle increases the vehicle manoeuvrability.

UAZ Patriot Sport has two engines. The petrol ZMZ-40904, 2.7 l. motor with an output of 128 horse power is designed for active drivers who spend most of their time driving about town. The petrol ZMZ-4091 has an output of 112 horse power and has a better thrust to weight ration, with maximum torque of 2,500 revolutions and is appropriate for those who love the off-road experience.

The off-roader will be manufactured in three classes Classic, Comfort and Limited. The prices for the UAZ Patriot Sport start at 420,000 roubles.
