OREANDA-NEWS. August 24, 2010. The 19th International agro-industrial exhibition and fair “Agrorus 2010” has started its work in St. Petersburg exhibition center “Lenexpo”.  The opening ceremony took place on “Lenexpo” Main Square fully filled with people. Even the weather stopped the rain due to the serious occasion. Once again “Agrorus” has proved its status of the most visited event in the Region.

All ceremony attendants were talking about the exhibition’s role in the development of agriculture; there were” Alexander Petrikov, the secretary of State and Russian Deputy Minister of Agriculture, Lyudmila Kostkina, St. Petersburg Vice-Governor, Sergey Yakhnyuk, Vice—Governor of the Leningrad Region, Vasily Zaharyaschev, the First Deputy Chairman of the Committee on public and religious associations of the State Duma and the Chairman of the Russian Gardeners Association, and Mikhail Rusiy, the Minister of Agriculture of the Republic of Belarus.  They greeted everyone on behalf of Viktor Zubkov, the Deputy Chairman of the Russian Government, Elena Skrynnik, the Minister of Agriculture, Governments of St. Petersburg, Leningrad Region and the Republic of Belarus.

The speakers pointed out that the Fair covered all aspects of agriculture and reflected its development priorities, determined by the Russian Government. These are: the increasing of investment attractiveness, implementation of new innovation technologies and improvement of rural living standards.  “Agrorus -2010”   demonstrates the achievements of “Agro-industrial Complex development” project, especially in the sphere of livestock breeding. Much attention is paid to the country’s food security issues.

According to the information, announced at the Opening Ceremony, the list of exponents contains over 1200 participants from 43 Russian Regions and 10 foreign countries.
