Industrial Output Increases 6,6% in Moldova
OREANDA-NEWS. August 24, 2010. In January-June 2010, compared to the same period of 2009 the industrial output in Moldova made up 12 billion 216,1 million leis or by 6,6% more. The industrial output growth was due to the increased production at processing industry enterprises - by 7,8% and energy sector – by 2,3%, stimulating the increase in the overall production volumes by 6,3% and 0,4%, respectively.
At the same time the volume of production at extractive industry enterprises reduced by 11,4%, stimulating the decrease of total index by 0,2%. The considerable growth was registered at the enterprises: producing clothes - by 15,8%, wine – by 23%, tobacco products – by 58,8%, production and distribution of electricity – by 2,9%, footwear – by 13,8%, processing and conservation of fruit and vegetables – by 13,2%, paper and cardboard – by 13,3%, etc.
At the same time the volume of production reduced at the enterprises working in the field of vegetable and animal oils – by 13,9%, metal products, excluding machinery and equipment – by 24,4%, rubber and plastic goods – by 12,4%, medical devices, precise, optical instruments - by 30,5%, etc. 39 enterprises reduced their production volume in January-June 2010 (from 376 to 337 enterprises).
The main reasons of production volume reduction are: lack of raw materials because of unfavorable weather conditions of the last year, slump in purchasing capacity of economic agents and population, freezing of construction projects, etc.
