Azerbaijan Issues Permits for Import of 250 000 Tons of Grain
OREANDA-NEWS. August 20, 2010. The Azerbaijani government assumes emergency measures to stop rise in prices for bread in the country.
Azerbaijani Deputy Minister of Agriculture Aslan Aslanov said, the Ministry has given additional permits for import of 250,000 tons of grain.
“We have sufficient grain reserve, therefore, I can say with confidence that problems will not emerge in connection with grain, despite reduction of yields,” A. Aslanov said.
Earlier, more than 500,000 tons of grain have already been imported in the country. Harvest in the country will not exceed 2.1 million tons, engaging approximately 1.3 million tons of wheat with demand at the level of 3 million tons.
