SOCAR Management Attended Astara
OREANDA-NEWS. August 20, 2010. SOCAR representatives headed by the Company President Mr. Rovnag Abdullayev attended Astara district. SOCAR management visited Astara Compressor Station (ACS), where they got acquainted with the ongoing construction and restoration works. It was noted that the restoration and repair work are held in order to supply ACS with modern equipment and to extend it which has special importance in natural gas transportation to Nakhichevan Autonomous Republic and Islamic Republic of Iran.
The event was followed by a field meeting of SOCAR management and experts. Speaking at the meeting, the head of the Capital Investment Office Aghasef Aliyev informed on prospective works to be carried out at the station. He noted that work on the installation of additional compressor units to improve the productivity of Astara Compressor Station and bring the daily volume of transported gas to five million cubic meters is successfully carried out. Currently, the daily output of the Compressor Station makes 1 – 1,2 million cubic meters of gas.
The station transports gas to Iran under 5-5,5 megapascals. The extension works will enable transportation of 5 million cubic meters to Iran. SOCAR President Mr. Rovnag Abdullayev assessed the implemented works satisfactory and noted the need to complete the restoration and repair work before the end of this year. In this connection, he commissioned appropriate structures with a number of instructions.
Astara Compressor Station, constructed and put into operation in 2005, has two units with gas turbine engine. The first stage of the extension envisages commissioning of six new gas motocompressors, the second - four more. Consequently, the pressure will increase up to 7-7,5 megapascals.
