TANECO Opens Volunteer Clean up Season
OREANDA-NEWS. August 17, 2010. The event was arranged in a responsible manner. Everyone who came (about eight hundred people) was given a helmet, gloves, a tool and a bottle of water. Safety is first. As explained by Paul Buhmin TANECO Head of Safety department, the required instruction was given both to those working at site for the first time and to those for whom the Complex had become a second home long time ago.
Groups of 40-50 people were dispersed on the site area. Collecting of waste was the major activity. TANECO Administrative Director Sergey Parkhomenko noted that a week earlier almost 90 tons of structural steel wastes, wood and other construction debris were collected. It was the second and larger voluntary clean up day. Four Tatneft oil and gas producing companies came to assist the workers of Nizhnekamsk, such as: Almetyevneft, Dzhalilneft, Yamashneft and Elkhovneft. With their assistance was cleared out both the construction site partially and the adjacent external area of the Complex.

Despite the 30oC heat, everybody was in high spirits. Jokes, laughter and mutual assistance helped to cope with work "in one breath". The arduous work was made by strong gentlemen. Ladies were responsible for a lighter but not less important work. For instance Alsu Karimova, TANECO cleaner of office and production areas, together with other 11 people in the group cleaned the building of MSS №4 which had just been built.
- We’ll wash the floor twice, - women decided, - to get it really clean!
It should be noted that the majority of people took the volunteer clean up as an assignment of particular importance. Sure, area landscaping means the start up is coming very soon. There are only two months left before the start up of stage 1a1 will take place.
- Volunteer clean up – is a very old tradition, which we follow with great pleasure, - said E. Kogan, TANECO Metallurgist. – Management asked for help, the staff agreed to assist. It would be desirable to see the Complex territory well done as soon as possible. The heart fills with joy when you think that you also bring a small contribution to common cause.
For half day of work 120 tons of debris was collected and taken out on 13 trucks. Such volunteer clean up days will be held on weekly basis.
