Turkmenistan and US Discussed Prospects for Energy Partnerships
OREANDA-NEWS. August 16, 2010. The meetings between Director of the U.S. Department of Energy Regional Office Riaz Awan and the heads of the oil and gas departments of Turkmenistan focused on the prospects for further Turkmen-U.S. mutually advantageous cooperation in the fuel and energy sector.
During the meetings held at the Ministry of Oil and Gas Industry and Mineral Resources, the State Agency for Hydrocarbon Resources Management and Use under the President of Turkmenistan and the State Concerns Turkmengas and Turkmennebit the high-ranking official of the U.S. Government was briefed on the major aspects of Turkmenistan’s energy policy initiated by President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, who emphasized that the Turkmen state was always ready for mutually beneficial cooperation on an equal basis with all partners including U.S. companies that expressed the willingness to establish full-scale cooperation with Turkmenistan in the fuel and energy sector.
Based on the outcomes of the meeting emphasis was put on mutual interest of the oil and gas business communities of the two friendly countries in intensifying cooperation and widely applying the expertise and technologies of U.S. leading companies to implement investment projects in Turkmenistan in the spheres of geological prospecting, hydrocarbon processing, exploration of offshore oil and gas deposits in the Turkmen sector of the Caspian Sea and development of transport infrastructure to transit Turkmen energy to world markets.
