OREANDA-NEWS. August 13, 2010. In 2009, joint revenue of top 50 forest and pulp & paper companies of Russia decreased by 7.8% down to 199.55 billion roubles, as reported by Lesnaya Industriya journal. Top ten companies had 73.5% of the total revenue (against 70% a year ago).

As noticed in the article, Russian forest companies are working on the verge of profitability: average net benefit ratio of the top 50 companies amounted to 0.7%. Average net loss of woodworking sector was 2.4% of the revenue, while pulp and paper companies managed to get a 1.4% average net benefit of the revenue.

The first company in terms of revenue was Ilim Group (39.1 billion roubles). The second was Mondi SLPK with 21.43 billion roubles, which is 8.4% higher than in the previous year. Investlesprom is the third with 19 billion roubles.

The fastest growing company this time was Mayak which increased its revenue by 56% up to 1.15 billion roubles. The fastest growing woodworking company was Olonetsles with a 21.9% growth up to 378 million roubles. Among Top 50 companies, the largest loss in revenue happened at Krasnyi Oktyabr mill (-47.2%).

The largest net benefit in Russian forest industry, according to Lesnaya Industriya’s rating, belongs to Mondi SLPK (1.99 billion roubles). The second is International Paper (Russian affiliate of an American company) with 950 million roubles, then are Volga with 718 million roubles, Rusforest with 497 million roubles and Titan group with 312 million roubles.
