OREANDA-NEWS. August 13, 2010. In Moldova the volume of market of fixed Internet access services in January-June 2010 increased by 16,8% - up to 245,6 million leis (USD20,6 million) against the same period of 2009. As it was informed in the National Regulatory Agency for Electronic Communications and Information Technology (ANRCETI), this tendency is due to the sales growth of Moldtelecom and StarNet companies.

Particularly, sales volume of SC Moldtelecom in January-June 2010 increased as compared to the same period of 2009 by 19,1% - up to 175,5 million leis (USD14,7 million), and of StarNet – by 64,3% - up to 29 million leis (USD5,4 million). The sales volume of other operators of this market made up 41,1 million leis (USD3,4 million).

The increase of sales volume is due to the growth of number of broadband Internet users, and great variety of offers from providers of such services. According to ANRCETI, the number of users of fixed Internet access increased in January-June 2010 against the same period of 2009 by 54,1% totaling to 235 thousand, out of which 231 thousand – are users of broadband Internet access, and 4 thousand – of dial-up Internet service.

At the same time, the number of users of broadband mobile Internet increased up to 107,4 thousand, and users of mobile multimedia services – up to 2 million 171 thousand. According to ANRCETI, the largest share of market of fixed Internet access services – 70,5% - belongs to SC Moldtelecom.

The market shares of StarNet LLC and SC Orange-Moldova make up 12,1% and 4,5%, respectively. The rest of operators possess 12,9% of the market.
