OREANDA-NEWS. August 12, 2010.  Projects implemented by Novolipetsk Steel (‘NLMK’) in the course of the last 5 years are amongst the Top 50 most innovative projects undertaken by major Russian enterprises, according to research conducted by Mediaholding Expert. The research also includes NLMK in a list of the most innovative Russian companies.

The objective of the research was to determine key domestic producers with hands-on experience in implementing innovations.  NLMK presented four projects: its in-house grain-oriented steel production process using Russia’s first laser treatment facility, a unique process producing galvanized steel sheets with thicknesses up to 0.22 and up to 4.0 mm, which are in high demand in the construction and white goods sectors, and a new technique for steel treatment during oxygen blowing in a Basic Oxygen Furnace (‘BOF’) vessel that allows to produce high quality steel grades.

A list of innovative projects implemented within the last 5 years was made based on the results of this research; it includes 33 major Russian companies.
