OREANDA-NEWS. August 10, 2010. Kyiv Institute of consumer expertise (ІСЕ) controls fuel quality more than seven years and publishes findings in mass-media. In practice it is the only independent information about fuel quality in the country which consumers can get. Derzhspozhivstandard (The State Committee for Technical Regulation and Consumer Policy) hasn't enough costs for such inspections and laboratory researches, during the last years it is limited to verifications of permissive documents only. Thereafter, certain fuel traders got an opportunity to sell poor quality product almost with impunity.

The aim of project initiated by ІСЕ is to create a single register of fuel quality, data bank accessible on project's web resource. Any car enthusiast will have the opportunity to discover properties of fuel which petrol tank is filled with at this or that filling station, visiting site http://www.benzina.com.ua/ .

The important feature of project is that ІСЕ experts conduct a research not only in cities but also on main highways and in district center towns. In other words, in those places where control organizations never appeared. Geography of sample collecting will sweep all regions of Ukraine, and also Kyiv and Sevastopol'.

According to the director of Institute Yuriy Chornobryvets', Map of fuel quality in Ukraine project started in May, 2010. As of today project participants tested fuel in Kyiv and Kyiv region, and also in Kharkiv, Kherson, Mykolayiv, Odesa and Vinnytsya regions. It is planned to accomplish inspections in all other regions till October.
