Number of Air Passengers on Tallinn-Kuressaare Route Set New Record
OREANDA-NEWS. August 10, 2010. In July the number of air passengers on Tallinn-Kuressaare route set a record of the last decade, where Estonian Air served 2062 passengers. The former record of the decade was 1729 passengers a month, which was set in July last year, reported the press-centre of Estonian Air.
In July Estonian Air carried 2062 passengers between Tallinn and Kuressaare, which is 19.3% more than y-o-y. In the first seven months Estonian Air carried altogether 7804 passengers, which is 1.7% less y-o-y.
"The result of the first four months was hit by number of flights cancellations caused by weather conditions, ash clouds and technical reasons, but starting from May passenger numbers have been climbing up again," said Rauno Parras, Estonian Air Vice President Commercial. "The increase in passenger number is mainly influenced by extremely favourable fare and active sales through Estonian Air’s and its partner’s sales channels. Also excellent weather conditions of this summer supported air travel to Saaremaa," added Parras.
Estonian Air operates between Tallinn and Kuressaare nine times a week on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, Fridays and Sundays. One-way fares to Kuressaare, if purchased from www.estonian-air.com, start from 252 kroons including all fees and taxes, subject to availability.
Estonian Air serves the route on the basis of Public Service Obligation signed with Saare County Government until 30 September 2013. The route is operated by 33-seat Saab 340 aircraft.
In 2009 Estonian Air carried on Tallinn-Kuressaare route 11 330 passengers, which is 13% more than y-o-y.
