Oranta Will Participate in Program of Waste Reduction
OREANDA-NEWS. August 5, 2010. Oranta as a UN Global Compact signatory and an active promoter of the Green Office concept, joined the community initiative - waste reduction program called “Club A4” implemented in the framework of the National campaign "Go Green", initiated by the UN Office in
The program is aimed at practical implementation of the green office concept, namely, promoting more efficient use of paper resources and assistance in organizing the collection, sorting and recycling of waste paper generated by the offices.
To do this, in the offices of Oranta were installed containers to collect used office paper, unneeded old notebooks, cartons, packing materials, magazines, newspapers, promotional products etc. The removal and recycling of waste paper will be carried out periodically and centrally by the staff of “Club A4”.
"The program allows participating companies to behave in an environmentally friendly way even if they produce relatively small amounts of waste paper and guarantees the processing of the collected waste. In addition, every participating company has its "green account" within the project and thus at any time, can verify how much waste paper was collected by the company and, consequently, how many trees were saved," – says Julia Begma, coordinator of the “Club A4” project.
Oranta has a long tradition of resource conservation. Even in Soviet times, a company – at that time Ukrgosstrah - led propaganda on saving light, heat and water among its staff. In 2004, with the new Management on board, the Company focused on compliance with the international socially-responsible business practices and strategic approach to the resource conservation and environmental responsibility. Since then Oranta’s offices were redesigned using the latest energy saving technologies. In 2008, after becoming the UN Global Compact signatory, Oranta introduced a "Green Office" as the program and constantly updates it with the new practices.
