RTS Released Stock Market Weekly Trading Results

OREANDA-NEWS. August 5, 2010. Over the week of July 26 – 30, 2010, the RTS Index went up by 2.11% to reach 1,479.73 points (1,449.19 points as of July 23, 2010). Most of the positive impact on the RTS Index dynamics was related to the growing prices for ordinary shares of ОАО "LUKOIL" (LKOHS) (plus 6.38 points) followed by ordinary shares of Sberbank (SBERS) (plus 4.21 points) and ordinary shares of Gazprom (GAZPS) (plus 3.50 points).

The RTS Standard Index, the blue chips index, gained 1.32% to reach 9,648.34 points (9,523.11 points as of July 23, 2010). The "second-tier" stock index – RTS-2 experienced an increase of 2.80% closing at 1,720.02 points (1,673.11 points as of July 23, 2010). Last week almost all the key economy sectors represented on the Russian stock market demonstrated a positive trend. The largest growth was reported by the metallurgy sector, with the RTS Metals & Mining Index adding 3.39%. A significant increase was also shown by the oil & gas and financial sectors, with the RTS Oil & Gas Index and RTS Finances Index going up by 2.74% and 2.40% respectively.

The regional index, RTS Siberia Index, added 0.51%.

Last week the US dollar depreciated by 0.98% against the ruble to reach 30.22 rubles per US dollar (30.52 rubles as of July 23, 2010).

The total securities trading volume on RTS for the week of July 26 – 30, 2010 equaled USD11.8 billion (357.74 billion rubles*), including all types of trades. The trading volume on RTS Standard totaled USD2,341.29 million.

The week's top sellers were Sberbank ordinary shares (SBER) with a turnover of USD1,092.42 million followed by Gazprom ordinary shares (GAZP) with a turnover of USD546.59 million and ordinary shares of ОАО "LUKOIL" (LKOH) with a turnover of USD225.30 million. The share of each security in the total trading volume made up 45.96%, 23.00% and 9.49% respectively.

The week's top gainers were ordinary shares of JSC "Severstal" (CHMF) that went up by 8.26% to USD12.23 followed by ordinary shares of Ufaneftekhim (UFNC) – by 7.78% to USD4.85 and ordinary shares of PJSC "NCSP" (NMTP) – by 7.36% to reach USD0.152.

The week's top losers were ordinary shares of JSC "Aeroflot" (AFLT) that fell 1.82% to reach USD2.0 followed by ordinary shares of OJSC MTS  (MTSS) that lost 0.37% to reach USD8.02.
