OREANDA-NEWS. August 05, 2010. Specialists of the FSUE “Rosmorport” vessel traffic maintenance service completed the modernization and installed new hydro-meteorological equipment in Kaliningrad sea shipping channel, reported the press-centre of Rosmorport.

As a result of the completed works two new meteorological stations at the entrance of the channel and on navigational mark in the open water area of the channel, as well as two Doppler flow and water level meters “Argonavt” at the depths of 3 and 6 m were installed. Alongside with meteorological station in the open water area of the channel active video surveillance camera was installed also.

Hydro-meteorological equipment modernization will let the specialists consider the flow and wind speed during the pilotage in Kaliningrad sea shipping channel, evaluate hydro-meteorological conditions on a real-time basis and improve meteoconditions forecasts, which factors will lead to better navigation safety in Kaliningrad sea shipping channel.
