OREANDA-NEWS. August 05, 2010. Excessive over-regulation of the construction market is caused by corruption. This opinion Vice Prime Minister of Ukraine Serhiy Tigipko expressed during a meeting on the construction industry deregulation, which was attended by representatives of ministries, agencies and construction companies.

Serhiy Tigipko has drawn attention of the participants of the meeting to an excessive number of licenses in the construction sector, which requires urgent reduction. "We have to license more than seven hundred types of construction works. The main reason for such excessive regulation – corruption", said the Vice Prime Minister.

Another important direction of deregulation in the construction sector Serhiy Tigipko has called reduction of necessary approvals and permits, and the time of their submission.

"If in Georgia the period of obtaining all necessary permits to start construction is from 5 to 30 days, in Ukraine - more than 400 days. This significantly hinders investment in the country and depresses the construction industry. The construction sector needs urgent deregulation", considers Sergiy Tigipko.

The Vice Prime Minister has given an order to create a working group that will develop recommendations to simplify the necessary conditions for building.
