Volume of Electricity Consumption Increased by 0,9% in Moldova
OREANDA-NEWS. August 04, 2010. In January-June 2010, the volume of electricity consumption in Moldova increased by 0,9% - up to 1 billion 637,3 million kWh as compared to the same period of 2009. As InfoMarket Agency was informed in the National Agency for Energy Regulation (ANRE), that doesn’t take into account the data of Transnistrian region, the growth in energy consumption was registered by all electricity distribution companies of the country: RED Union Fenosa (unites Chisinau, Central and Southern electricity distribution networks), RED Nord (Northern electricity distribution networks) and RED Nord-Vest (North-Western electricity distribution networks), as well as by the independent consumers.
In the areas served by the RED Nord, the consumption has increased by 1,1% and amounted to 286,84 million kWh, in the areas served by the RED Union Fenosa – by 0,6% - up to 1 billion 170,01 million kWh, and in the area served by the RED Nord-Vest - by 2% - up to 143,19 million kWh.
The independent consumers used 37,26 million kWh or by 2,9% more. It should be noted that in 2009, for the first time since 2000, it was registered a decrease in electricity consumption, connected with the decline in electricity consumption by the industrial customers because of financial and economic crisis that affected the economy of Moldova.
In 2009 as compared to 2008 Moldova has reduced the volume of electricity consumption by 0,7% - up to 3 billion 210,5 million kWh.
