Kazakhstan Government Tallies H1 2010 Economy Results
OREANDA-NEWS. August 03, 2010. GDP growth in the H1 2020 made up 8% announced Zhanar Aitzhanova, Minister of Economic Development and Trade, at a government’s sitting.
According to the Minister, for the period under review unemployment decreased by 0.9% against the like period of the previous year, reaching 5.8%. The success can be attributed to the government’s programs. Inflation for the period made up 4.4%, mainly driven by food inflation of 5.6%.
Industrial production output grew by 11% against the like period of 2009. Processing industries (18.3% up) surpassed mining sector in terms of growth rates which indicates quality changes in the country’s economy. The main driving forces behind the overall industrial production growth were machinery building (67.8% up) and chemicals (67.5% up).
Vice Minister of Industry and New Technology Albert Rau announced that in the H1 2020 Kazakhstan produced 8452 tons of uranium and plans to extract another 9770 tons in the H2. Altogether, Kazakhstan intends to bring the uranium production from 14000 tons last year to 18222 tons this year.
Bolat Zhamishev, Minister of Finance, announced that in the H1 2020 the budget revenues totaled KZT 2 trillion 37 billion. Tax proceeds grew by 19.6% against the like period of 2009.
In the period under review investments into agriculture grew by 40.2%, into industrial production by 27.7% and into construction by 39.8%.
