Ukraine Does Not Consider Possibility of Rate Increase for Housing
OREANDA-NEWS. August 02, 2010. The Ukrainian Government has no plans for the second phase of increase of tariffs for population. This Prime Minister Mykola Azarov said in an interview.
According to him, in a Memorandum of Cooperation with the IMF there is no point of another increase in tariffs: "In the memorandum there is not a word about it. The memorandum states the commitment of Ukraine to establish reasonable rates for the housing and utilities services provided. Reasonable means those responding to real expenses. The first stage was there a decision to streamline tariffs.
The Prime Minister recalled that it is already decided to create a National Commission for Regulation of tariffs for housing and utitlity services, which will analyze the cost of services in all regions of the country and will determine their costs.
The Head of the Government said that the Commission would submit to the Government proposals on the need to adjust tariffs in the regions. According to him, only following such a mechanism tariffs for each individual region will be set.
Mykola Azarov also stressed that the Government has set a target to the enterprises of housing and utility services not lay on people’s shoulders their mismanagement. According to him, people should pay for real services, not the cold radiators or the lack of water in the tap.
