OREANDA-NEWS. July 28, 2010. In these days a delegation of the international consultants of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) on sustainable energy, who had arrived to participate in the two-day workshop on strengthening energy efficiency policy framework, is on a visit to the Turkmen capital.

During the visit to Ashgabat the guests were received at the Ministry of Oil and Gas Industry and Mineral Resources, the Ministry of Nature Protection, the Ministry of Energy and Industry, the Turkmengaz State Concern, the Turkmennebit State Concern and the Sun Institute of the Academy of Sciences. A focus of the meetings was the issues regarding to further expansion of cooperation in such an important field as achievement of energy sustainability.

The workshop with the participation of the members of the delegation will be organized in the framework of the joint project of the UNDP Country Office and the UK Embassy in Turkmenistan “Strengthening the Policy Framework for Sustainable and Rational Use of Energy and Alternative/Renewable Sources of Energy”.

The forum agenda will focus on the ways to promote and enhance energy efficiency and production of alternative energy and develop the action plan for an ad-hoc group. The forum participants will discuss a variety of strategies and laws in this field.
