PM of Ukraine: Health Reform to Provide Private & Insurance Medicine
OREANDA-NEWS. July 28, 2010. We have embarked on the road of reforming the health system, which provides modernization of public health care, promotion of private medicine rapid growth, and covering medical care expenses of citizens through health insurance, said Prime Minister of Ukraine Mykola Azarov opening the Nuclear Medicine Centre in Kyiv City Oncology Hospital.
The uniqueness of the Centre, which according to the Prime Minister is to receive first patients on October 14, consists in the use of positron emission tomography technology that allows diagnosing early oncologic diseases and treat them effectively.
For the future Mykola Azarov has promised more "serious changes in health", purpose of which is "one task: to create a modern standard of living for people".
Speaking of cancer patients who today have to treat at their own expenses, the Head of the Cabinet of Ministers said: "I will not promise, but there is a suggestion - and it was discussed with President of Ukraine Viktor Yanukovych - to create a resource for difficult cancer patients. Treatment for those who can not pay will be publicly-funded".
