33 Power Supply Companies to Take Part in Electricity Sales Auction
OREANDA-NEWS. July 27, 2010. 33 power supply companies holding licenses for electricity supply under the non-regulated tariff are planning to take part in the first experimental electricity sale auction on July 20 as part of transition to bilateral contracts and balancing power market, said Vladimir Evdokimov, the Deputy Director of Energorynok State Enterprise, at a briefing.
According to him, such number of suppliers was determined during the opening of the bidders’ proposals on Friday.
‘Today the suppliers’ bids were opened. 33 companies are going to attend the auction on July 20’, he said having noted that there are about 50-60 suppliers under the non-regulated tariff in Ukraine.
Mr. Evdokimov explained that Energoatom National Power Generation Company and 5 thermal power generation companies: Dneproenergo, Centrenergo, Zapadenergo, Donbassenergo and DTEK Vostokenergo will represent the power producers at the auction.
According to the Head of the Energy Market Department of the National Electricity Regulatory Commission, Sergey Byshinskiy, the main goals of the pilot auction are to finalize the draft regulatory documentation to regulate the bilateral contracts market at the first stage, and to test a mechanism for bilateral contracts’ registration upon the auction results.
The auction will be held on July 20 at 10:00 am in the premises of the NERC, and the trading data will be published in the real-time mode on the web site of Energorynok SE.
As was earlier reported by the agency, Energorynok is planning to hold the first pilot auction of electricity sale on July 20, the purchasing and selling period is from 01 to 31 August inclusive.
The auction comprises 80 lots to a total electricity volume of 567.138 thou. MWh amounting to UAH 139.107 million.
The starting price of 1 MWh is UAH 241.4472 (net of VAT).
The terms and conditions of the auction in particular stipulate that the buyers are supposed to purchase electricity produced by NPPs and TPPs in the ratio of 50% to 50%.
On June 24, the NERC approved the work of the electricity market in the experimental (‘shadow’) mode starting from July 1, within the framework of the first stage of transition to the bilateral contracts and balancing power market.
