OREANDA-NEWS. July 27, 2010. This was announced by the EBRD Senior Legal Advisor, Paul Moffatt at the meeting with the Director of the National Regulatory Agency for Electronic Communication and Information Technology (ANRCETI), Sergiu Sitnic.

According to him, technical assistance is expected to be rendered for elaboration and implementation of development strategies of broadband access to Internet, transition from analog television to digital, other projects regarding the development of electronic communication and information technology in Moldova.

The parties discussed the potential results of implementation of technical assistance project Development of Communication Regulation put at disposal of the EBRD Agency and the schedule of the main activities, planned for II six months of 2010. Sergiu Sitnic highly appreciated the assistance of the EBRD experts rendered to the Agency specialists in the process of elaboration and implementation of regulatory acts for promotion and protection of competition.

He specified that the Agency was intended to finish by late 2010 the analysis of markets and impose upon operators, taking important positions at the relevant markets, special preliminary duties in order to protect the competition. In his turn, the EBRD representative emphasized the readiness of the Bank to provide Moldova with additional assistance. Particularly, experts will help the Agency to bring the Law on Electronic Communication in accord with EU norms and to develop the regulatory communications strategy for medium-term period. The Project - Development of Communication Regulation, launched in October, 2009 is designed for two years. Its cost amounts to EUR898,3 thousand.
