Moldova Increased Production of Wine by 23% in 1H
OREANDA-NEWS. July 27, 2010. As it was informed in the National Bureau of Statistics, the production of wine in period under review amounted to 6,8% of the total industrial output. Production of distilled alcohol beverages in January-June 2010 in cash increased by 35% totaling to 230,2 million leis (USD18,5 million), or 3% of the total industrial output.
Increased production of alcohol beverages in Moldova in 2010 is due to the removal of barriers to the export of Moldovan wine products. In particular, late last year the authorities have canceled the mandatory use of the trademark for the export of alcohol beverages, liberalized export of cognac and wine in bulk, etc.
It can be reminded that in 2009, as compared to 2008, the production of wine in Moldova in cash has decreased by 21,2% - up to 1 billion 613,6 million leis, and distilled alcohol beverages - by 17,1% - up to 423,4 million leis. In 2009 Moldova produced in kind 430,8 thousand dal of cognac, declining its output by 38,6% as compared with 2008.
In 2009, Moldova has also reduced the production of the natural grape wines by 22,7% - up to 9 million 981,8 thousand dal as well as sparkling wines (champagne)- by 16,8% - up to 476,1 thousand dal.
