SOCAR to Commence Gas Supplies for Georgian City Poti
OREANDA-NEWS. July 26, 2010. SOCAR Georgia Gas Ltd, a specialized subsidiary of the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan (SOCAR) in Georgia, is ready to launch realization of Poti city gasification project announced this May.
Mahir Mammadov, the CEO of SOCAR Energy Georgia, says that they completed work over the project of gasification and are involved now mobilization of resources.
"These days we will proceed to construction work on gasification," he said.
SOCAR Georgia Gas has also corrected plans on activities of other public utility (water, electricity, etc) operators in the city.
"Although we have not such a commitment, we will strive to complete gasification already in 2010 and manage to complete it by the time of commissioning of main gas pipeline Senaki-Poti,” Mammadov said.
The main gas pipeline is being laid at the expense of the Georgian government.
In the process of presentation SOCAR informed that during this year it plans to construct a gas network of Poti by laying 158 km of gas lines. On completion the city’s network will have new 21,000 consumers.
In addition, gasification of 174 various sites is planned as well.
SOCAR Georgia Gas intends to connect 150,000 new consumers to gas supply and gasify 30 cities and districts within the framework of the three-year program (2009-2011).
