Volume of Industrial Production Increased by 6,6% in Moldova
OREANDA-NEWS. July 23, 2010. According to the National Bureau of Statistics, the growth of volumes of industrial production in January-June was caused by the increase in output at the enterprises of a processing industry - by 7,8 % and power sector - by 2,3 % that led to the increase in total amounts of production by 6,3 % and 0,4 %, respectively.
At the same time, the volume of production of extractive industry decreased by 11,4%, resulting in reduction of the total index of industrial production by 0,2%. The increase in volumes of industrial production in this period was registered at the enterprises producing: clothes – by 15,8%, wine – by 23%, tobacco products – by 58,8%, distilled alcoholic drinks - by 35 %. Production and distribution of electricity increased by 2,9%, footwear – by 13,8%, fruit and vegetable tinned food – by 13,2%, milk products – by 4%, paper and cardboard – by 13,3%. Manufacture, processing and conservation of meat and meat products increased by 2,4%; cacao, chocolate and confectionery products from sugar - by 6,8 %; furniture – by 7,2%.
In January-June 2010, manufacturing of pumps, compressors and hydraulic systems increased by 77,5%; household appliances – by 71,4%; medicines and pharmaceutical goods - by 35,5%; suitcases and bags – by 27,2%; varnishes and paints – 18,5%; fodder for animals – by 9,4%. At the same time in January-June 2010, it reduced the output of the enterprises on production of: other nonmetallic mineral products (glass, cement, plaster, etc.) – by 8,9%; fats and oils – by 13,9%. Manufacture of ready metal products, except for machines and equipment, reduced by 24,4%; rubber and plastic products - by 12,4%; medical devices, precise, optical instruments - by 30,5%; machines and equipment – by 3,5%; bread and fresh confectionery – by 1,7%; wood and wooden goods – by 31%.
In 2009 the volume of industrial production in Moldova amounted to 23 billion 266,6 million leis, 22,2% down compared with 2008. The National Bureau of Statistics does not take into account data on the Transnistrian region.
