Moldova to Give Priority to Local Food Producers
OREANDA-NEWS. July 23, 2010. According to Minister of Agriculture and Food Industry – Valeriu Cosarciuc, the Government made such decision in order to render assistance to local producers. In the list of priority purchased products, adopted by the Cabinet names of goods – almost all food products were included: meat and milk products, sugar, fruit, vegetables, macaroni, etc.
The head of the Ministry of Agriculture noted up to the present moment in the course of tenders about 60% of imported goods and only 40% of local products were purchased. According to him, local producers are able to offer the attractive prices in order to win tender.
Both Moldavian producers and authorities will benefit from giving the priority to local products when purchasing food. Valeriu Cosarciuc said annually in the course of tenders food amounted to 420 million leis is purchased for state needs.
The leading customers are: Ministry of Defense, MIA, Ministry of Health, Ministry of Education, Ministry of Justice, local authorities.
