OREANDA-NEWS. July 23, 2010. Obninsk Institute for Nuclear Power Engineering (Kaluga region) will soon start training of medical physics specialists

The prospects of the institute having got the status of a branch of the National Research Nuclear University of MEPhI were under discussion of MEPhI rector Mikhail Strikhanov and Governor of Kaluga region Anatoly Artamonov. According to Deputy Governor of the region Maxim Akimov, OINPE will possibly introduce new specialities for the institute including Medical Physics.

According to Obnisk weekly paper “Chas Pik Region”, the institute is assumed to train personnel for three Russian nuclear medicine centers — in Dimitrovgrad, Tomsk, and in the future in Obninsk itself where establishment of such center is expected approximately in 2020. By the way, since 2008 the Medical Institute has been a part of OINPE.
