OREANDA-NEWS. July 23, 2010. Compared to the corresponding period of the last year, in the first six months of 2010 woodworking enterprises of Karelia have increased the volume of woodworking and production of woodwork by 16.9% up to 2,284 billion roubles. Production of cellulose, wood pulp, paper and cardboard has increased by 2.1% up to 9,355 billion roubles.

Rise in production is observed on many parameters. Thus, it has been produced 2,537 mln. cubic meters of dense unprocessed timber, that makes 3% growth to the last year; production of saw timber has increased by one third - up to 332,800 cubic meters of dense timber. Production of cellulose has grown by 2.1%, and production of paper has increased by almost 5%. The largest woodworking enterprises in Karelia are JSC Solomenoye Sawmill, Swedwood Karelia, Ltd., Medvezhiegorsk Timber Industry Enterprise, Inc. Pulp-and-paper industry is generally concentrated at Segezha Pulp and Paper Mill, Inc., Kondopoga, Inc.
