Moldavskaya GRES Decreased Electricity Exports by 62%
OREANDA-NEWS. July 22, 2010. According to the Bureau for Reintegration of Moldova, electricity exports declared by Moldavskaya GRES in the Customs Service of Moldova within the first six months of 2010 amounted to 3.7% of the total exports from the region during this period (compared to 14.4% in the same period of 2009).
As it was reported before, in 2009 as compared with 2008 Moldavskaya GRES has reduced electricity exports by 37.4% - up to USD25.9 million. Exports declared by Moldavskaya GRES in the Customs Service of Moldova in 2009 amounted to 6.8% of the total exports from the region during this period. All electricity export supplies accounted for Romania. A drop in the electricity exports was mainly due to the suspension of electricity supplies to Romania in early October 2009 due to commercial factors.
Exports were resumed in late November 2009. Moldavskaya GRES supplies electricity to Romania since July 2007. CJSC Moldavskaya GRES is one of the largest power plants in the Eastern Europe. The total installed capacity of 12 power units is 2 thousand 520 MW. At present Moldavskaya GRES provides electricity needs of Transnistria and Moldova, as well as provides its exports to Romania. Since August 2005 Moldavskaya GRES is a part of Inter RAO UES.
